Advantages of Grafted Rootstocks
»
60-70% less seedlings are used.
»
Grafted seedlings are resistant to main root and
soil diseases and pests.
»
Since the seedlings are more strong, the stem
nourishes the plant better than its own roots.
»
Grafted seedlings carry up water and nourishing
elements of the soil better than the own roots of
the plant even in low temperatures.
»
They give better results than normal seedlings under
unfavorable conditions.
»
They are more economic since less chemicals will be
used against soil diseases.
»
Production per decare will be more than that to be
achieved using normal seedlings provided that no big
mistake is made in nourishing and maintenance.
Rules to be observed during and after planting
»
Before planting base fertilizers (organic and
chemical) must be given to the soil.
»
During planting the stem of the seedling must remain
above the soil and the grafted point and the stem
must not touch the soil.
»
During planting, soil must be compressed around the
roots and no cavities must remain under and around
the roots.
»
No
filling must be made around the neck.
»
The
grafted point must not be covered with soil even
during grubbing.
»
After planting, the plant must be amply irrigated,
and thereafter an irrigation and fertilizing program
arranged by a technical consultant must be
implemented.
»
Information about the strength of the seedlings must
be obtained and the fertilizing program must be made
accordingly.
»
In
production of grafted tomatoes hanging must be made
without delay. Otherwise, the seedlings can bend
down and touch the soil.
»
When hanging the tomato seedlings which have double
branches, the rope around both branches must be tied
to the main stem.
Rules relevant to seedlings
»
The
table on the next page gives the diseases to which
the seedlings are resistant.
»
The
diseases to which all seedlings are vulnerable are:
Phytium
Rhizoctonia
Phytophthora
and
Root-knot nematode: This is the case when the soil
temperature is above 28ºC during planting.
Problems like diseases or viruses on the stem i.e.
on the upper part have nothing to the with whether
the seedling is good or bad.

Kemerit Rz F1
F1
hybrid
With its strong and resistant root system, it
nourishes the plant very well under any condition.
It is perfectly adapted to the stems it is grafted.
It is a very strong seedling. Excessive use of
nitrogen must be avoided in growing eggplant. As to
production of tomatoes, normal fertilizing program
must be implemented.
Resistant to TomMV / Fol:0.1 / PI / Va / Mi
Yedi RZ F1
F1
hybrid
It
is a kind of tomato hybrid graft generally used in
Mediterranean countries for tomato and eggplant
grafting. It is the most common seedling used in
grafted eggplant production which is a growing
sector in Turkey. Particularly its resistance to
fusarium and verticilium wilt provides great
advantages. Its medium-strength roots do not go down
very far in the soil and remain close to the
surface. Therefore, it provides ease in nourishing
the plant. It yields high outputs and high quality
fruits.

King Kong Rz F1
F1
hybrid
This seedling is distinguished by its high strength
for tomato and eggplant. It stands out particularly
with its resistance to oxysporum f.sp. radici
lycopersici and strong plant structure. Its field of
usage is continuously growing.
Resistant to TomMV / Fol:0.1 / For / PI / Va / Mi
Emperador RZ F1
F1 Hybrid
Has a high
cold tolerance and agood response to salty
conditions. Gives nice fruit colour and size, heavy
fruit, and a very high production: early and. Very
well balanced since the beginning of the crop (
autumn ). It is an open plant which do not increase
the size of the leaves: low sensibility to
Botrytis.Espacially recommended for winter cycles of
tomato.
Comparable
to Maxifort ( DRS ) but more generative.
Resistant to TomMV / Fol:0.1 / For / PI / Va / Mi

Melon and watermelon seedlings are resistant to
Nematode in low temperatures. Chemicals must be used
in high temperatures.
Ferro Rz F1
F1 hybrid
FERRO RZ is a hybrid composed of Cucurbita maxima
and Cucurbita moschata. It is suitable for melon and
watermelon grafting thanks to its balanced growth
and extraordinarily strong and resistant root
system. Compared to other seedlings FERRO RZ yields
more and earlier. This breed is suitable for all
known kinds of melon, watermelon and cucumber.
It is resistant to fusarium oxysporum.

Pelops Rz (64-15 RZ)
PELOPS RZ is a Lagernia type seedling for watermelon
grafting. This seedling presents a growth and early
yield of moderate strength.
PELOPS RZ is resistant to fusarium oxysporum.
HR: For / Pythium
Azman Rz (64-05 RZ)
F1 hybrid
It is a strong breed for grafting melon, watermelon
and cucumber. AZMAN RZ is a hybrid composed of
Cucurbita maxima and Cucurbita moschata. It is
resistant to fusarium oxysporum and cold.
